We have had a stunning week weather wise, not a drop of rain, sunshine all the way. Look forward to September already. (Apr to May 2017)
Our first visit to ‘First Light’, an excellent place to stay for both views and facilities, amazing accommodation, so much space and very clean with everything you could wish for. See you next year. (April 2017)
Lovely stay with the rest of the family next door! comfortable, beautiful location and all enjoyed meeting Ross the pony. Thanks for a lovely holiday. (Oct 2016)
This is our 1st holiday since needing a wheelchair full-time. Was concerned as to how we would cope but with no need, as everything was available as needed. Hope to return soon. (Oct 2016)
Great to find such well thought-out accommodation. Thank you Jane and Stuart. (Aug to Sept 2016)
Wow! Beautiful accommodation with everything you could wish for. Thank you for going that extra mile and looking after us.  (August 2016)
As you can see accommodation really can’t be improved on. Weather typical ‘Lakes’ – a bit of everything (except no snow). Will be back. (July 2016)
7th visit – Like we have never been away. We love it here, feels so comfortable, Home from Home.A shame the weather let us down this time but back in September, perhaps the sun is waiting until then. (July 2016)
A little piece of heaven. Lovely and comfortable and everything we needed.Great weather too! Had some excellent food out as well.
Lovely accommodation and so accessible. Another calf was born this week, Wonderful. What more could we ask? See you again” (June 2016).
1st stay and it’s the best. A week is too short. We found some good walks that are accessible by electric wheelchair. (June 2016)
A wonderful holiday in our favorite location. We didn’t think we would be able to visit here again but thanks to Jane & Stuart’s building of these wonderful log-cottages we can and have already booked to come back for a 2 week break later this year. Thank you so much. (May 2016)
Staying for a fortnight was a good plan enabling us to take ‘rest days’ in between busy days out. The scenery, food and atmosphere has been uplifting as usual, this being our 4th visit. Jane & Stuart have been supportive and are the essence of this place. (May – June 2016)
Wonderful holiday once again, got a sun tan! We’ve been coming here since 2003 and cannot imagine not coming here again. Lovely walks up the lane full of birdsong. (May 2016)
Our 6th or 7th visit (lost count) and long may future holidays continue, can’t wait for our return in September this year. Thanks again.” (April – May 2016)

A wonderful place in which to recuperate from a broken ankle. Jane & Stuart’s kindness and support helped me become stronger, and more able to face the next stage of my recovery in my own home. (5 – 19 March)
Thank you so much for making what turned out to be Alan’s last holiday, very special indeed. I have many happy memories which will stay with me always.
The excellent facilities and your kind concern meant we could enjoy the time we spent there.
Please feel free to use any part of this note for your reviews on the properties.
Kind regards. (Oct 2015)
Thank you Jane and Stuart for welcoming us once more back to our little piece of paradise. Our 5th visit now, and still the perfect place to relax, kickback, but still find adventure and fun if we want to. ‘Greenlands Farm Village’ is great to visit and has wheelchair elevators in the shop & cafe. Lovely watching the cows, sheep and ducks we’ll be back next year.
(12th – 26th Sept 2015 for 2 weeks)
7th Visit! In Oct 2011 we commented on how Stuart had inspired our son to be a tree surgeon – now he has just gained his Degree in Arb. – thanks to Stuart for his teaching and inspiration!
This was another great holiday. I am always impressed with how forward thinking the local Authority has been with allowing planning for these cabins, they are great for people with disabilities and great for the local bee population who were loving the fantastic grass/flower roofs. Well done All especially Jane & Stuart.”
Sue. (1st – 8th Aug 2015)
The Lake District has got to be one of the most stunning places on this planet regardless of the weather, but what we loved more “This place” after a great day out there is nothing better than coming back to “First Light” with its fabulous location, superb facilities (for our Emma) and very warm owners, Thank You.
As animal lovers it was paradise with ‘Ross’ the horse, ducks, lambs and sheep. Emma loved it as we all did, we will be back.
Grantham Area. 4th – 11th July 2015
The most wonderful restful & happy time here in Stuart & Jane’s little paradise! This is where All the stresses and worries of life ease up Big Time! Again the disabled facilities are second to none.
Seeing Ross (Highland Pony of much gorgeousness) ducks plus sheep with lambs is a tonic more than medication! Thank you for the comfort and love you have built this place with. Look forward to coming again SOON.
From Kirbymoorside, Yorks. May 2015
Stag View is amazing, Picturesque and so very relaxing. Good access to local lakes and it is wonderful to wake up to the sheep baa-ing. Ross the horse is very entertaining and the lambs. Love the space, layout and ease of the log cabin. Thank You. 16th May – 23rd May 2015.
Excellent situation. Lovely views. Animals especially lambs & calves delightfully distracting.
Great accommodation, well & thoughtfully appointed & equipped with a high level of insight into the needs of disabled wheelchair bound visitors. Spacious and private, but with help at hand if needed. Highly recommended.
Would definitely visit again. We had a great time and weather kind too!” 25th April – 2nd June 2015. Lancs.
“Thank you so much to Jane & Stuart for providing such excellent accommodation (& spotlessly clean).” April, Leics.
A week last year wasn’t enough so we booked 2 weeks this year – didn’t book the heat wave but thanks for that too! Accommodation, weather, walks, ice cream all perfect. H wants to stay here for a year! Thank you.
First visit to this piece of paradise. Stayed in Stag View and what a view it is! Log cabins are well equipped and very spacious. Will be back.
Sitting out on the decking in the sunshine with a glass of wine, what more could you ask for. Pity the weather worsened, but hey this is the Lake District! Didn’t spoil anything though. Cabins and locations superb. We will be back soon.
A very enjoyable Christmas holiday in comfortable and warm surroundings, ideal for the 2 of us who are disabled.
Beautiful and comfortable. Everything you need is available and furnished to a very high standard. We enjoyed the open planned space and high ceiling with patio onto the decking. It gives the feeling of spaciousness, useful for tall husband! Wonderful shower in wet-room, great for tall men and small ladies. We will be back again and again.
First Light Cottage exceeded our expectations. Very well equipped for disabled people and beautifully decorated . . . We loved the animals, so cute and entertaining. Jane and Stuart have created a lovely retreat for disabled people and their families. Well done and thank you.
This has been a real break for us, the first holiday in 5 years. Jane and Stuart have made it so much more . . . Fantastic facility that has enabled us to have a great time with new experiences.
Holiday PERFECT!
