Wheelchair Accessible Holidays near Windermere

Enabling wheelchair users,   other disabled guests, families and able-bodied people to enjoy a comfortable holiday at Mitchelland Farm Cumbria.

Guests enjoy watching wildlife, especially birds, from the comfort and tranquility of their luxury self-catering Log-Cottages on this small working farm near Bowness-on-Windermere.

Providing ‘Access for All’ holidays on our quiet farm for 22 years.

Work continues to progress slowly on ‘Log Retreat’. We have barred the workmen from their digger so our guests can continue to enjoy the peaceful countryside until the end of the season. We still can find plenty of painting to keep us busy for the remainder of the summer and of course finish inside.

This project is designed for for guests who use a ceiling tracking hoist system and has a large en-suite ‘changing bench’ style wet-room. The build will be the same as the two authentic Norwegian style Eco Log Cottages but larger with flexible use. If you are in the area do drop by as different ideas for the finish are very welcome. Our home number is 015394 47421.

Our two existing cottages have grass and wild-flower roofs, are very spacious and sleep four. Both have a house bathroom as well as a large wet-room en-suite to the twin bedroom (one of the single beds is a Hi-Lo adjustable, profile bed) making life easier and independent wheelchair users love the open plan layout in the living area with the kitchen worktops at different heights. Everyone enjoys the luxury of our Electric Riser/Recliner chairs with open views over farmland and fell. Bird lovers tells us of the increased variety of birds we now have. Only waiting for one late cow to produce her calf. Life is easier with all the cow eating grass and enjoying the sunshine.
